This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” I think many of us have sung this song but do we really take to heart the messaging? John 1:5 states, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” God is the light of the world and can overcome any darkness!
We also read in Matthew 5:14-16 that we can be a reflection of God's light in this world: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
Last week there was a full moon. It was bright and beautiful and lit up our whole yard! But how can that be? The Moon can’t shine on its own; it only reflects the sun. What a great analogy for our marriages - may we strive to have a marriage that is a shining beacon in a world of marriages that are in the dark, a reflection of Christ's love. As you read through this issue, maybe your inner soundtrack will be, “This little light of OURS, WE’RE gonna let it shine!”
