The next 50 years? Well, many things are not certain. However, I feel confident that Pam and I will not be around for the 100th Anniversary of UME. Dan Seaborne of Winning at Home ministry tells people that when he marries couples, instead of saying “I Do” he thinks it would be better to say “NO CLUE”. That comes to mind as I look at our first 50 years, see what God has allowed UME to accomplish, and wonder what he has planned for the next 50.
So with that, I believe God has ordained UME to help draw marriages closer to him. I believe God wants the best for each of us and our spouses. I believe God has provided a plan to accomplish this and will expect UME to help deliver this plan to his people as he always has. I believe the next generation of couples is innovative, more creative, and heavily passionate about what they invest their time and resources in, which is exciting. I believe the community of caring couples will continue to be UME’s foundation for keeping the Weekend Experience alive and thriving. I believe our Team Couples will continue providing life-changing, transformation talks for our attendees.
So what is the call to see a 100th Anniversary for UME? First and foremost! We can not let the enemy have this ministry. We must defend it with our prayers and our perseverance. We must continue to know that the Weekend Experience has transformational results and that couples can benefit from it.
Let’s be obedient to inviting and allow God to control the outcome. We must continue investing in the Community by creating and sustaining a place where married couples can be discipled and belong. This alone can be a blessing to many married couples. We need to continue supporting the ministry with our resources, gifts, finances, and presence. We need to be ALL IN to God’s leading.
With love,
Steve & Pam Chapman
